Entry requirements

The following are General College requirements - see individual course details for additional requirements.

  • You should be at least 17 years of age
  • Two references should be presented at interview or included with your application form.
  • You should have achieved or expect to achieve Grade D in at least 3 subjects in the Leaving Cert or Pass Level (120 Credits) in the Leaving Cert Applied (These requirements do not apply to mature students).
  • Relevant work experience and training will be considered in place of above examination requirements.
  • All qualified applicants are interviewed.

Entry to Year Two of two-year programmes is conditional on the successful completion of Year One or appropriate evidence of equivalent learning.

National Qualifications

Whenever possible Liberties College Courses are fully accredited by the Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC). FETAC has responsibility for making awards previously made by NCVA, FÁS, CERT/NTCB, Teagasc and BIM. To gain the National Vocational Certificate (Level 2) a candidate must accumulate eight approved module credits – this requires at least one year’s full-time study.
Other courses are accredited by Edexcel/BETEC which is a UK awarding body. To gain a Higher National Diploma students undertake sixteen units of work over two years and this requires two years of full-time study. Other advanced programmes in Liberties College are accredited by a broad range of national, international and professional bodies including:

CACHE Council for Awards in Children’s Care and Education
Edexcel Edexcel was formed in 1996 by the merger of two well-respected bodies, BTEC (the Business Technology Education Council) and ULEAC ( the University of London Examinations and Awards Council)
HND is an Edexcel Award.
Galileo Galileo International is a ‘solutions provider’ to the global travel marketplace.
Irish Red Cross The Red Cross Movement, with over 100 million members worldwide, is the largest human organisation in the world today.
